Hail today
Because of the increase, both in frequency and
intensity, of adverse weather conditions in recent years, fruit-growers
no longer consider hailstones an unfortunate climatic event, but rather
a very real possibility every summer.
In many areas hailstorms regularly happen more than once a season
and the crop is almost always completely destroyed, if not adequately
protected.
Over the years, consumers have become more and more
careful and discerning; requiring fruit which is perfect and flawless.
As a result, a single imperfection, perhaps caused by a small hailstone,
is often enough to cause fruit to be
rejected by retail chains and destined to preserve production –
with the consequent loss of income for the grower. |
